Lindsey Farris
In 2008, Lindsey fulfilled her dream of reaching even more young dancers by founding Step South Dance. Her mission has always been to impart the joy and invaluable life lessons of dance to children and positively impact her community. Lindsey’s commitment to her students is clear, as she strives to enrich their lives through the art of dance. She resides in Rock Hill with her husband, Cameron, and their two children, Hadley and Deacon, who also support her passion.
Jessica Cato
Jessica Cato, was born and raised in Gastonia, North Carolina. She moved to Rock Hill after meeting and marrying her husband. Jessica is the Student Services Coordinator for Special Programs at South Carolina Learns. She has a passion for helping individuals with special needs. She loves working with her students where she watches them grow, succeed and have fun.
Jessica and her family attend North Rock Hill Church. She serves as a volunteer for “A Night to Shine,” which is a complementary event for people with special needs and disabilities put on by the Tim Tebow Foundation. She is also a volunteer for the “Take a Swing at Pediatric Cancer“ golf tourney which is played in memory of Adam Kincaid who passed away of pediatric cancer.
In her free time, Jessica enjoys spending time with her family, cheering on the South Carolina Gamecocks and trips to the beach. She and her husband Scott, live in Rock Hill and have two children SarahKate and Rowe.
Andrew Vinson
Andrew Vinson has been a resident of York County for the past 18 years, residing in Rock Hill, SC. Andrew’s professional experience has been in the Banking and Finance industry for the last 16 years. Andrew’s current role is with Arthur State Bank, as Vice President – Loan Officer. He manages Consumer & Commercial Lending and Business Development for the York County Market, based out of the Rock Hill Branch. Before coming to Arthur State, Andrew worked for First Citizens and BB&T in Consumer and Commercial Lending. The markets he covered with First Citizens and BB&T consisted of York, Lancaster, and Chester Counties. From 2021 to 2023, Andrew stepped away from the banking industry, and was a Vice President of Finance – Controller in the private business sector. Andrew also has college teaching experience as an Adjunct Professor of Business Administration. He taught Entrepreneurship Finance and Financial Market and Banking at Winthrop University and Newberry College from 2018 to 2023.
Andrew’s education background has all been completed in the State of South Carolina. He completed his Master’s in Business Administration from Winthrop University, with a concentration in Banking and Management. Andrew received his B.S. in Business Administration, with a Minor in Sports Business from Newberry College. Andrew completed a Certificate in Non-Profit Management through the York County Chamber of Commerce in May of 2024. Currently, Andrew is enrolled in the South Carolina Bankers School through the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. Involvement in the community is another aspect that Andrew brings to the Foundation Board. Andrew has been a member of the York, Lake Wylie, and Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce, He served as an Executive Board Member for the York County Regional Chamber, Fort Mill/Tega Cay Area Council Executive Board and York County Government Relations Board. Andrew currently serves on the Rock Hill Economic Development Small Business & Entrepreneurship Committee, Winthrop Athletics Eagle Club Board, York County Gamecock Club Board, and the Newberry College Business School Advisory Board.
Elizabeth Owen
Elizabeth is a partner with Morton & Gettys, and practices primarily in the areas of family law and education law. She is an experienced trial lawyer representing clients primarily in the South Carolina Family Courts. Outside of practicing law, Elizabeth has a passion for education and serving her community. She currently serves as the Board Chair for the York School District One Education Foundation, a nonprofit she found in 2019. She volunteers with numerous community youth and family oriented organizations in York County, including serving in former leadership roles on the board of directors for the Early Learning Partnership of York County, and the York County Community Foundation. Elizabeth is a Liberty Fellow and a Riley Fellow, and the co-founder of the Annual Thanksgiving Day Charity 5k Run/Walk in historic York, benefiting several local non-profits. She also serves on the York County Natural Gas Authority Board of Directors.
Elizabeth is a graduate of the College of Charleston and earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science and a Bachelor of Science in sociology. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law.
Elizabeth is an Elder at First Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill. She is a York County native and lives in Rock Hill with her two daughters, Mary Alice and Lettie, and husband, Henry. She loves running, traveling, gardening, and spending time with her family.
Ashley Lang
Ashley Lang, is co-host of “Palmetto Mornings” on WRHI FM 100.1/AM 1340 which is also seen live on CN2.
The Charleston native is a graduate of Middleton High School but now affectionately refers to Rock Hill as home. She received a degree in Teleproduction Technology from York Technical College as well as her bachelors degree in Integrated Marketing and Communications from Winthrop University.
Ashley started her career over 20 years ago at CN2 News where she has received awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas. Afterworking at CN2, she worked in the Marketing Department at Comporium. Ashley has also done voice over work for Charlotte businesses and is featured as the voice of “Sage the Soccer Ball” in the Baxter’s Bunch project. Since being a part of the “Palmetto Mornings” Radio Show they have received several awards from the South Carolina Broadcaster Association including Best Radio News Talk Show, Best Morning Radio Show Personality or Team and Best Radio Show of the Year.
She also manages a local boutique in Rock Hill called, Faded Crown.
Ashley attends Fort Mill Church of God, and is actively involved. She is a graduate of the “Leadership York County” program, and has served as a team leader for the “Come See Me” and Christmasville festivals. She is now an active board member for the Come See Me Festival, Arts Council of York County, Women’s Art Initiative, and Sullivan Middle School PTO. She also enjoys emceeing and performing the National Anthem at
numerous community events.
In her free time she enjoys singing, antique and thrift shopping, watching her daughter lead worship and dance and her son play football and basketball. She and her husband Robb, live in Rock Hill and have two children, Mary-Elex and Chapman.
Warren Norman
R. Warren Norman was born and raised in Rock Hill. He graduated from Northwestern High School and Presbyterian College with a Special Education Major degree. He then worked for 2 years for the University of North Carolina in their TEACCH program which is an Autism research program that works with people with Autism. Norman is currently Owner/Managing Partner at Warren Norman Co., Inc. During his time at Warren Norman Co,. Inc he was awarded the 2013 Rock Hill, SC Business Person of the Year. Some of the notable Commercial Developments including Hampton Inn, Fairfield Inn, Kohls, Hobby Lobby, Ashley Furniture, Red Bowl, Academy Sports, Sam’s Club, Buffalo Wild Wings, 5 Guys, Dicks, Fountain Park, Hickory Tavern, Firehouse Subs, Chipotle, Krispy Kreme, Storage deals, etc.
In 2008 and 2009 Warren wrote and published 2 children’s books called Baxter’s Bunch Series. Baxter’s Bunch Playhouse was created in 2011 around the central theme of the Children’s books. In 2014 he then wrote and produced the Baxter’s Bunch Pilot TV Show. His love of sports also helped him in coaching Middle School basketball at Westminster Catawba Christian School, the YMCA and church basketball.
Warren attends First ARP Church where is actively involved. He is an ICSC member and is also a member of Kiwanis Club of Rock Hill where he has served as president. He also served on the Knowledge Park Leadership Group and the Rock Hill Economic Board. He is currently a board member for the Rock Hill Sports Commission and serves on the South State Bank Regional Board. Warren also has a heart for the special needs community. He has served on the York County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs as well as the Served on York county Board of Disabilities Foundation…helping start the 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament Fundraiser. He is also one of the Founders and Lead on the Miracle Park Project in Rock Hill, which is a 12+ Million dollar park designed for the special needs population which is the first of its kind in the United States.
Warren and his wife Chrissi have three children, Ren and Walker who are both currently attending the Citadel and Riley who attends Northwestern High School.
Leigh Threatt
Leigh is a proud South Carolina native who moved to Rock Hill to pursue her education at Winthrop University, where she earned a degree in Special Education. After graduating, she started teaching self-contained special education until the arrival of her first child. Over the years, Leigh has actively contributed to the Rock Hill community, recognized as a Rock Hill Schools Volunteer of the Year in 2014. Faith and family are most important to her; she is married to her high school sweetheart and a devoted parent of two children who have thrived within the Rock Hill School District—one who graduated from Rock Hill High School and now attends the University of South Carolina, and another who is currently a student at Rock Hill High School.
Leigh has served on the boards of several non-profit organizations dedicated to enhancing the Rock Hill community. She is also a member of her church’s bereavement team, providing compassionate support during times of loss. As a lifelong friend of Marlie’s father, she holds a special connection to the mission of The Marlie Dru Sullivan Foundation and is passionately committed to supporting our mission.
Anne Beckham
Anne Norman Beckham is a native of Rock Hill, South Carolina. She is a graduate of Northwestern High School and received a bachelors degree in Early Childhood education from Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina. Post graduation, Anne taught at Rosewood Elementary and York Road Elementary both in Rock Hill, as well as Lake Murray Elementary in Chapin, South Carolina. Anne is an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She remains active in the community and currently substitutes in the Rock Hill School District and serves on the 100% Rock Hill Schools Foundation board of directors. In her spare time she enjoys trips to the beach and spending time with family and friends. Anne and her husband, John, have four children…Laine, Lawson, Davis and Blair.
Hannah Simmons
Hannah Simmons, of Charlotte, NC, is a 1999 graduate of Marlboro Academy in Bennettsville, SC. During her Senior year of high school, she won the title of Miss South Carolina Teen USA. From there, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications with a concentration in Journalism from Winthrop University in 2004.
During her residency in Rock Hill, Hannah was a part of the construction of University Place Apartments while on staff with Environmental Land Augmentation. Giving back to the community and making a positive impact in the lives of others is something Hannah is passionate about. Hannah has participated in numerous fundraisers and philanthropies, including The Leukemia and Lymphoma Soceity’s Man & Woman of the Year, representing Michelle Soutier of Miller Street Dance Academy, and various events supporting Dancers Against Cancer. Hannah currently serves on the New Connections Committee at Charlotte Christian School, where she plays an active role in welcoming new and incoming students to the school’s community.
In addition, Hannah also serves on the Board of Directors for Greenwood Subdivision. When she has free time, she enjoys interior decorating, organizing, fitness, volunteering, watching her son play baseball, and her daughter dance and cheer. Hannah and her family attend Calvary Church in Charlotte, NC. Currently, Hannah resides with her husband, Will, and their two children, Hudson (14 years old), Campbell (11 years old), and their dog, Ripken, in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Melissa Faile
Melissa Faile is an active member of the Rock Hill, SC community where she and her husband Clint have lived for more than twenty years, raising their two children, Skylar and Townsen. Originally from Aiken, SC, Melissa made her way to the Rock Hill area for college. She attended Winthrop University where she was an active member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority serving as the Historian and later Vice President. She graduated with a degree in Integrated Marketing Communication. Melissa is now a realtor for Carolina Realty Solutions with nearly two decades of experience, helping both buyers and sellers throughout the greater Charlotte area.
Giving back to her community has always been a priority for Melissa. She has served as Treasurer for the Junior Welfare League of York County, President and Vice President of India Hook Elementary PTO, board member of York County’s Younglife, Events Chair for her neighborhood’s Home Owners’ Association, Vice President of the Academic Booster Association and team leader of two events in Rock Hill’s annual Come See Me Festival – the Healthy Kids Zone and the Teddy Bear Tea Party. In addition, Melissa volunteers for other local service efforts through her church, Westminster Presbyterian, and through Back the Pack, Food Share, Holidays with Heroes and as a weekly student mentor at York Road Elementary.
When anyone is in need, Melissa is always ready to jump on board and plan a way to provide, whether by organizing meals, providing gifts for families for Christmas, gathering home essentials for crisis victims, leading clothing drives or simple things like raising funds for students to be able to attend field trips. In her free time, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family, planning trips, playing pickleball and socializing with friends.
Melissa is honored to be a board member of the Marlie Dru Foundation. Not only are the Sullivans close family friends of the Failes but Marlie was like a second daughter to Melissa and was Skylar’s best friend. Melissa and her family are committed to keeping the memory and the beautiful spirit of Marlie alive and to giving back and inspiring others in a way that would make Marlie proud.
Ben Sullivan
Ben Sullivan, is a native of Pageland, South Carolina but has called Rock Hill home since he attended Winthrop University in 1997.
While growing up, Ben, was a two sport athlete for Central High School. Sullivan continued his baseball career at Winthrop University’s under the guidance of former coach Joe Hudak and current coach Mike McGuire. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management from Winthrop in 2001.
From 2001 – 2007 Sullivan served as VP of Sales at Metal Recycling Services (MRS) out of Monroe, North Carolina and in 2001 where he was instrumental in the growth of a start up who even tually sold to Nucor Steel (NUE) in 2008. In 2007, Sullivan co-founded Coastal Recycling, Inc (CR) where he served as President. He also joined Allied Metal Recycling, LLC (AMR) as a Director in 2009 and helped guide the company’s growth from one location with 12 employees to 8 locations with 86 employees. He soon developed the Scrap Partners concept and began to implement the plan to merge CR and AMR, then expand operations into the Carolinas and Tennessee. His vision decentralizes management to allow multiple locations to operate as independent business units, thus reducing layers of management. He later adopted the concept as the company name, Scrap Partners, LLC.
The Sullivan family loves baseball and Ben has coached with Showcase Baseball Academy (SBA) baseball teams for the past 5 years. Sullivan is currently a member of St. John’s United Methodist. In his free time he likes spending time with family, going to the beach and cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers. Ben and Stacie live in Rock Hill and are the parents of Cooper and the late Marlie Dru.
